![]() I wouldent tow anything more than a pop up with a small van like that. I will look for a 17' trailer instead, or maybe a new tow vehicle. Thank You, I appreciate your quick and knowledgable response. They give you plenty of space and sleeping capacity, and would be much lighter than the trailer you're looking at.Ģ021 Newmar Baystar 3014 on F53 (7.3 V8) Chassis ("Brook") If you really want to use the Honda as your tow vehicle, I would look closely at some of the light weight 17' hybrid trailers. ![]() NOT a fun experience, as many here have learned the hard way. So, you're talking about being roughly 1,000 lbs over your van's maximum. Given all that, I can almost promise you your 21' trailer will weigh close to 4,000 lbs, once its loaded and ready to camp. Then, you still have to take into account the weight of all the stuff (food, clothes, etc.) you will load in it. Neither does it include the weight of battery, propane, etc. That 3100 lbs does not include any additional options the trailer has (like A/C, awning, etc.). That right there, makes your realistic tow capacity closer to about 3,000 lbs.Īlso, keep in mind that the trailer you're looking at, will NEVER weight 3100 lbs, even completey empty. Check with Honda, but in most cases, any weight other than the driver, you have to subtract from that 3500 lb tow capacity. ![]() That 3,500 lb capacity is a MAXIMUM, and in many cases assumes the tow vehicle is completey empty except a driver. ![]() When I say "take everything into account", I mean the following: Any more than that, and you're asking for trouble. Realistically, once you take everything into account, that translates into a lightweight 17 or 18' trailer, at most. Mini-vans (with the exception of the Chevy Astro/GMC Safari) limit you to just what you said - 3500 lbs towing. I am looking at buying a 2000 21ft keystone cabana TT with a dry wieght of 3100 lbs. I have a 1999 Honda Odyssey van V6 engine with a towing capacity of 3500 lbs. RV.Net Open Roads Forum: Tow Vehicles: Towing with Honda Odyssey Van Open Roads Forum ![]()
